88. Mayer Hawthorne “You Called Me” How Do You Do [Universal]

“You turn me around.”

He hadn’t been to this park since he was a boy. The pond looked the same, completely placid save for the gushing oversized sewer drain that collected mold not too far from the gaudy gazebo. He didn’t remember the gazebo being so flowery and TV small-town drama-esque, but he also couldn’t quite pinpoint what it looked like in his memories. That was probably because he spent more time on the jungle gym than anywhere else in the park. Before getting too caught up in old thoughts he made his way toward the rickety old construction that was home to a scratched up plastic slide, one of those purposely wobbly bridges, monkey bars, and a tire swing. All these things and yet what stood out most to him was none of the functional playthings but rather the narrow beam that held the tire swing chain. Like he was a kid again he crawled up through the now-too-small stairway to the top of the slide, finagled his way onto the splintery thing that clearly did not need 140-some pounds weighing on top of it, and immediately realized it was a terrible idea. And then the inevitable happened. Before he hit the sand he wondered what that vibration was. After coughing up a couple leaves and an unnecessary amount of groaning he realized his phone had rung more than once. It was time to head back to the car where his wife was waiting for him to be done with his trip down nostalgia parkway.
